JPET (Jobs Placement Employment and Training)

The JPET (Jobs Placement Employment and Training) is a free and confidential program funded by DWER (Department of Employment and Workplace Relations) for young persons between the ages of 15 to 21 who have barriers to employment.

 

Young persons dealing with issues that stop them from getting back into school attending training or finding work  these issues may include things like being homeless, or risk of becoming homeless or facing personal or social difficulties which might include

  • Drug and alcohol
  • Sexual abuse or violence
  • Mental Health issues
  • Extreme difficulties at home
  • Legal issues
  • Behavioural issues
  • Language reading and writing,
  • Lack of employment skills (Resumes, Job applications)

 

JPET will work with them and assist them to find the correct help to overcome these issues and these may range from assisting to create resume, do job applications, assist them to access help to find housing, medical appointments, counselling,  legal issues, assist to organise, apply and pay for birth certificates photo ID cards.


JPET can also help in resolving problems through support and advice assist with Centrelink and income support issues.
JPET will allow them to set their own goals and work at their own pace, and help them to find suitable education and training opportunities or stay at school.

 

Young people can be referred to the JPET program by Centrelink, Job Network, any other organisation or program or they can self refer and do not have to be collecting Centrelink benefits to participate in the program.

 

JPET travel to Wilcannia to provide outreach services every second Tuesday.

 

The JPET program is facilitated by Wesley Uniting Employment,
